David Arnebeck Begins Teaching Martial Arts: 1980
In 1980 Eric Mudget confronted David Arnebeck in the high school hallway...
"I hear you know martial arts?" said Mudget.
"Yes." replied Arnebeck.
"I want to learn. Can you teach me?" requested Mudget.
"Sure." replied Arnebeck.
... and after that simple beginning, David Arnebeck has been teaching martial arts ever since. Eventually, after continuing his training under different masters and styles, David Arnebeck re-branded his teachings and school as the Warrior's Cove Martial Arts & Fitness Gyms in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul Minnesota area teaching thousands of members.
David Arnebeck started boxing under his father in 1968, and later started Kung Fu training under Sifu Jeff Carlson. Prior to Sifu Carlson, Arnebeck was also exposed to Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do concepts, Karate and Kubudo training and Hwa Rang Do by Joo Bang Lee.
David Arnebeck's father, Wallace Arnebeck, built David a gym in their garage so most of Arnebeck's teaching at an early age consisted of Eric Mudgett and soon other kids from school meeting and training in that garage. The Arnebeck residence was approximately 15 miles NE of Silver Bay Minnesota. This was near an Air Force Base radar installation built there due to the high elevation. That same elevation produced long and often severe winters. Below are a few fun pictures of Arnebeck's garage during winter. Wallace affectionately named it "Wally's Arctic Outpost".
David Arnebeck also built a cabin surrounded with various training equipment near his home and a lot of the training occurred there as well. David Arnebeck also trainined with his students at various outdoor training sites around the beautiful North Shore area of Lake Superior and the Palisade Head cliffs (see pictures below.)
Later, after Arnebeck moved out of his fathers home and was running dojo's in Duluth and Two Harbors, and also training clubs at the University of Minnesota Duluth and the College of Saint Scholastica, he would occasionally bring students back to his original "training grounds" for various training retreats.

Arnebeck's Cabin Training Camp
As a teenager, David Arnebeck built a cabin surrounded by various training equipment including three different spring loaded wooden man training dummies, an obstacle course, tight rope, balance beam, two high jump stations, target board for throwing weapons, kung fu plum blossom piles and pull up bar. Years later, Mr. Jeff Goodwin, senior Tang Soo Do Kyo Sah Instructor, was impressed with the training camp and requested to use it for a two week personal training retreat.
Advanced Training at a Young Age
Arnebeck investigated all aspects of the martial arts at a young age. One of the very first texts he studied was Hwa Rang Do by Joo Bang Lee. Mr. Lee did resistance to pain demonstrations that Arnebeck duplicated including piercing his arm and neck with sharpened welding rods and then picking up weights with those rods. He also duplicated spinning kicks on broken glass, and breaking cement blocks over his torso with a sledge hammer while laying on broken glass. He also practiced the basics of weaponsmithing, designing various swords including ninja katana, chinese hooked swords, and also throwing stars, calthrops, kung fu double steel whips, manriki gusari, kama and sai. He also constructed wooden 3 section staffs, nunchaku, and tonfa. Arnebeck didn't just limit his training to the ancient weapons, he also became proficient with rifle and handgun along with recurve and compound bow and arrow as a teenager.
